My Inspiration

My creativity began as a child watching my late grandfather "Holger Danske" Engstrom as we called him, an artist and avid oil painter always creating new works like his father had done before him. I spent many weekends growing up, at my grandparent's place in Bellahoej and "Holger" was my initial inspiration to art. My late mother also called "splint" in the Danish girl scouts because of her petite size later began to show an amazing artistic skill for arts and crafts especially porcelain painting. I as a ten year old did my first hand drawn animation which ran about 3 seconds. it was a "stick man" drawn on about 75 small papers. I also experimented drawing comics. In the winter time I would spend about 1 hour after school at the library reading comic and horror books and got carried away to those fantasy places that these magnificent authors created. It never crossed my mind that one day I would create those universes myself. One of my early favorites was Prince Valiant's adventures. I also owned a small film projector my grandfather had given me, as one of his hobbies was also filming family trips and reunions, and had many old movies and cartoons I would show my friends. For the next decade I would not create much artistically as life became very hectic pursuing my lifelong aspiration of becoming a pilot.

My Aspiration

My first flying job at age 21 was as a bush pilot in Kenya, Africa and after several months of not getting paid I left with plenty of experiences and stories to tell my grand kids. It was well worth the trip. fast forward 3 years later I was married and flying as Captain on an old Casa 212, for American Eagle based in Puerto Rico and St. Croix , old Danish West Indies, my ancestors sugar plantations. I began writing articles and taking pictures for Career pilot magazine and soon thereafter met a passenger on my flight , a Danish Publisher/business man, who in a very short time influenced me always to think big and make it happen..great advice which I took to heart.. I started my own magazine, covering Puerto rico and the US Virgin Islands (formerly Danish West Indies) . So I was a publisher and editor, and then slowly started writing my action thriller novel JETLAG. Fast forward about a decade and 3 kids later. I was based in USA mainland and working for a major airline flying around the world in DC 10's. I had written several movie screenplays started my own small literary agency specializing in helping screenwriters. I closed it after about 5 years when my film making hobby took over.

My Hobby

I had been volunteering as a production assistant on the set of an indie movie, and it had influenced me in many ways to seriously pursue film making. I bought a small DV camcorder and a mac computer for editing, then I wrote produced and directed my first student movie. A 72 minute student film which I shot in Denmark with friends and family members at 18 hours a day, in late November 2000. It was an incredible fun long hard 6 days. Then I edited the movie in 3 weeks and a composer helped my do the score. That composer later wrote the score for the first NARNIA movie... I wrote several interesting screenplays not all listed here. I took a directing seminar and I then wrote directed and produced a short movie in Miami, then another student amateur feature movie set during the Mexican 1910 revolution. I discovered that my passion was for period pieces because of the many great challenges and my intrigue associated with history.

My Direction

Then a personal catastrophe hit me... A medical neurological condition rendered me unable to continue my almost 20 year career as a pilot and I took the leap from film being a hobby to full fledged filmmaker, Which lead me to my first pro feature A VIKING SAGA- SON OF THOR, produced by my company SUPERSONIC ENTERTAINMENT CG INC.,and it just played in 3 film festivals. More on that movie can be found on WWW.AVIKINGSAGA.COM. I went from one dream job to another. I love art, writing, reading, especially history, and filmmaking and its creative possibilities, but it's a hobby still because I haven't earned a cent yet. But hopefully that will change soon as I spent all my life savings and more, on making this project happen. My script "SEAWARS" is hopefully next in line to be produced as is " THE MAGNIFICENT 5" both animation scripts for kids. I'm also currently working on a new script a la "6th sense" But what the future holds no one can tell except, expect the unexpected. My advice: Dare to achieve your dreams and focus on your aspirations . Make it happen.!!!
